After graduation, He entered gabel spa in 1988 as Project Manager and Programmer Analyst, managing the developement of application for the improvement of business processes connected to administration and logistics, with a focus on standardized trasmission of data between information technologies, at that time in its early stage.
In 1991 He became a Consultant for the implementation and the developement of solutions to transfer data on AS400 and Unix platforms, for companies as Editer srl and Intesa spa.
In 1995, He became Responsible for Professional Service EMEA for Supply Tech, Harbiger and Peregrine, coordinating a european team for all the technical activities connected to the implementation of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Systems.
In 1999 He started working as a Sales Manager in Metel; under his tutoring EDI services and processed for the dematerialization and the digital conservation of all the documents connected to the order’s cycle, are promoted. Standardization has always been considered by Giorgio Casanova as a mean to reach costs and time savings. In 2002 he gets promoted to CEO.
Thanks to his guidance, Metel collaborates with the Observatory for E-invoicing and Dematerialization and with the Italian Forum for E-invoicing and eProcurement (created according to dispositions of the Ministery for Economy and Finance in 2010); together they discuss all the topics related to digitalization, with a common goal: pushing the country towards digital innovation. In 2015 Metel became the official representative in Italy for ETIM International, a products’ classification already adopted by 14 countries worldwide.
