Fortunato Santucci
Fortunato Santucci received the laurea degree and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 1989 and 1994, respectively. In 1989 he was with Selenia Spazio S.p.a., Rome. In 1991-1992 he held a research fellowship at the Solid State Electronics Institute (IESS) of the National Research Council (CNR), Rome. Since 1994 he has been with the University of L’Aquila, where he currently holds the position of Professor of Telecommunications in the Dept. of Information Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Victoria, BC and has been involved in shorter visits with several universities, e.g. KTH Stockholm, UC Berkeley, Supelec, etc. He has been reviewer, opponent and member of the examination committee for several doctoral dissertations at both national and international level. His research activity is focused on energy efficient communication paradigms for the Internet-of-Things, vehicular communication networks, network security and advanced signal processing for satellite transponders and 5G infrastructures. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 papers in international journals or conference proceedings. He has served as an Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Communications from 2000 to 2013, for Kluwer Telecommunications Systems and other journals. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has been a member of several technical committees of the IEEE Communications Society. He is the Italian representative of Italy for Commission C (Telecommunications) of URSI, nominated by CNR. He is vice director of the Centre of Excellence DEWS at the University of L’Aquila, is in the board of the Radiolabs consortium, and in the General Assembly of CNIT. He is a co-founder of WEST Aquila srl, a spin-off of the University of L’Aquila. He has held other management positions at the University of L'Aquila, among those he has been a member of the Academic Senate. He has been the principal investigator of several research projects funded by public agencies and private companies. He has coordinated for 9 years the international M. Sc. program in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of L'Aquila.
