Massimo Busuoli

Massimo Busuoli is the head (since 2006) of ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) EU liaison office in Bruxelles where he coordinate a group of six people with the mission of promoting ENEA at EU level as well as of supporting project preparation. In this capacity he’s also member of the secretariat of the EERA (European Energy Research Alliance) as well as member of the secretariat of IGLO (Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices) and current chair of GIURI (Informal Group of Italian Liaison Offices for RTD).

In ENEA he previously covered the role of Technology Transfer Manager, EU projects coordinator and dissemination responsible in the field of ICT based applications for industry and he has also been member of the Board of Directors of CUP2000 (Italian e-care company) from 2003 to 2010.

Since 1994 he works in the field of EU funding of research and he has got the honor of being one of the Jury members that worked on the selection of the name for the next funding programme for research and innovation: Horizon2020.

Massimo got a bachelor degree in physics at the University of Bologna and works in ENEA since 1993.

Horizon 2020 rappresenta il quadro di riferimento unico in cui vengono compresi tutti i finanziamenti comunitari per la ricerca e l'innovazione per il periodo 2014 - 2020. Il suo obbiettivo é la trasformazione delle scoperte scientifiche in prodotti e servizi innovativi destinati a migliorare la vita dei cittadini e a creare nuove opportunità per le imprese. Il programma europeo intende investire nello sviluppo di tecnologie avanzate su settori al centro delle policy urbane: evoluzione demografica; sicurezza alimentare; energia sicura, pulita ed efficiente; trasporti intelligenti, verdi e integrati; sviluppo di comunità inclusive, innovative e sicure. Lo sviluppo verso le Smart City non può quindi non tenere conto di Horizon 2020.
Il laboratorio si propone di informare sulle principali caratteristiche del programma e stimolare un momento di confronto fra esperti e partecipanti riguardo ai progetti che potrebbero svilupparsi nel contesto complessivo delle azioni per le smart city.
 
Horizon 2020 gathers all EU research and innovation funding for the 2014-2020 period. Its goal is bring research and innovation together to tackle societal challenges and to create new business opportunities. The European programme supports and promotes activities of urban policy as: demographic changes and wellbeing; food security; secure, clean and efficient energy; smart, green and integrated transport; inclusive, innovative and secure societies. Horizon 2020 is therefore an asset for Smart Cities development.
The laboratory aims to showcase the main features of the program and share opinions between experts and participants on smart city projects.
